Audition Music Available

 

Auditions for the 2016-2017 Lafayette Band are scheduled for April 26 – April 28 in the Lafayette music suite.  All students (new and current) must audition for placement in one of three concert bands and for part selection in the marching band.

Students will sign-up for an audition time upon arrival in the band room and may leave when the audition is finished.

Woodwinds:  Tuesday, April 26 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Percussion:  Wednesday, April 27 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm
Brass:  Thursday, April 28 from 4:00pm – 6:00pm

Lafayette Band Pride of the Bluegrass 5K

The Lafayette Band 5K Run/Walk is on April 30, 2016. Registration is now open! Go to www.runsignup.com to register.  Please share this event with your family and friends and direct any questions to Carole Howell, 859-420-7845.

We still need donations of snack items for the morning race – granola bars, fruit bars, protein bars, bananas, and apples (no water).  Items can be left in the band room for Carole Howell or contact her directly.

Parents and grandparents can walk or jog.  Babies and strollers are free.

There is now a Race Page on Facebook.

Students sign-up here and click the Special Pricing button ($18).

Teams are encouraged – Guard, Woodwinds, Percussion, etc. and you can dress up (tutus and crazy socks are popular).  There will be awards for the best team spirit.

Transportation is NOT provided.
The performances are free and open to the public.  Families and friends are invited to attend.

Pre-order your 2015-16 “Vive la France!” Memory Book and DVD now by downloading this form.  The Memory Book is designed by band parent and photographer Michelle Dunlap and includes 60 color pages for $20.  The DVD is produced by Box 5 and is $40.  Order forms and payment must be received by Karen Akel no later than April 30.  Watch e-News for distribution dates and times.  For more information, contact Karen Akel at Karen.Akel@fayette.kyschools.us.

 

Spring Raffle for $10,000 Cash Prize

The Lafayette Band Spring Raffle is underway.  Please continue to sell tickets and use social media!  If you would like additional tickets, please contact Brenda Boggs at 859-806-1967.

Congratulations to the following students who sold 25 (or more!) tickets and will receive a $10 gift card for Starbucks or iTunes:  Bethany Boggs, Eli Dunlap, Grace Evridge, Michael Haymes, Kenneth Holbrook, Ashley James, and Genaea Sarantakos.

WHAT

2015-2016 Spring Raffle for a $10,000 Cash Grand Prize!   There will also be a drawing for lower arena tickets to a UK men’s basketball game.

WHO

All Lafayette Band families are asked to sell 25 tickets to make this successful and profitable!  Band payments cover only a portion of the expenses of this championship program.  Fundraising profits pay for uniforms, instruments, band camp instructors, travel/food/lodging at competitions, and much more!

WHEN

Raffle Ticket Collection for sold tickets will be at the following times:
Tuesday at 3:30 – 4:00 in the Band Room
Thursday at 3:30 – 4:00 in the Band Room
Sunday at 1:00 – 3:00 at the Band Banquet

Final turn-in date is May 14. All tickets (SOLD and UNSOLD) must be returned.

WHERE

The drawing for the $10,000 Grand Prize will take place at the Spring Concert on Thursday, May 19 at the UK Singletary Center for the Arts.

The 2015-2016 Lafayette Band Banquet and Honors Ceremony is scheduled for this Sunday, May 1st at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church Fellowship Hall (150 East High Street). We will celebrate another awesome year of Lafayette Band, bid farewell and pay special tribute to our seniors, and recognize the underclassmen with their well-earned “letters and bars”.

This year, our banquet is being sponsored in part and will be catered by Qdoba. We truly appreciate their support of our event.

We invite all Lafayette Band families to the lunch that includes: Your choice of entrée, dessert and beverage for only $8.00 per person. Our graduating seniors will be our guests for this event and are invited to attend free of charge, compliments of the Lafayette Band Association.

Check-in begins at 1:00 p.m., with lunch served shortly after check-in.

We will need servers to help with the banquet meal provided by Qdoba on Sunday.  Servers will need to enter through the west side of Calvary Baptist Church Activity Center.  Anyone available to serve should email Robin Feese at rfeesemd@cwpeds.com.

Please register if you plan on attending. Registration will close midnight Friday, April 29th.

  

2016-2017 Materials Have Been Mailed

 

All families should have received a set of materials in the mail for the 2016-2017 band year.  The materials include:

  • 2016-2017 Payment Agreement (orange paper) – return immediately
  • LBA Membership Registration Form (red paper) – required to volunteer with LBA
  • LBA Parent Volunteer Form (blue paper)
  • Medical Authorization Form (pink paper) – Mandatory for students to participate in Band
  • Over-the-Counter Medication Authorization Form (cream paper) – Must be signed by a physician and parent in order for student to receive OTC medications.

Please complete and return these materials to the address provided on each form.  The forms are also available on the Lafayette Band website at www.lafayetteband.org or contact Brenda Boggs at bsbboggs@yahoo.com
