BINGO–Volunteers Needed Now

Volunteer Sign-Up

Bingo needs your help!  The financial success of Bingo depends on parent volunteers. Several pull tab sellers are needed every Tuesday and Thursday – the bingo patrons want to give us their money by purchasing pull tabs!  (And the more volunteers we have makes it easier and more fun for all!)

In addition, we need to fill several “trained” positions (sell paper, sell computers, caller, payout, and back room). These positions are necessary to operate Bingo and there are openings due to graduating parents.  This is a great opportunity to become involved.

We ask that each family volunteer 12 times per year at Bingo.  Please find a Tuesday or Thursday this month and come to the Bingo Hall in Keithshire Shopping Center at 6:00 pm.  You will meet some great parents and support the band’s fundraising efforts.

Click here to sign-up or send email to lafayettebandbingo@gmail.com.

Band Store Apparel

The Band Store is taking orders for customized and personalized clothing.  Several designs have been created for the Lafayette Band and there are many items available such as shirts, polo shirts, sweatshirts, ¼ zips, hats, scarves, and rain jackets.  The order form is available online and you can view color photographs of the designs, apparel, and fabric choices.  The possibilities are endless – choose a design, fabric, clothing item, monogram, etc.  You can be creative with the designs or simply choose to monogram an item.  Please share the order form with friends and relatives.  Due to the personalized nature, all items must be prepaid.  If you have any questions, please contact Stacey Haymes at 859-552-6108 or haymes@twc.comThe deadline to order is June 30.  Mail your order form and payment to:

The Lafayette Band
PO Box 910450

Student Annual Physical and KHSAA Form

Download KHSAA Form

Make an appointment now with your child’s physician to get a yearly physical. Have the physician complete and sign the KHSAA Physical Form and send it with your student on the first day of band camp. It is a good idea to take a blank KSHAA Form with you since not all physicians keep blank forms on file.

If your student had a physical last year after July just make arrangements for a new physical as soon as possible at the one year date.

Parents – Join one of the Band Crews for the 2016-17 year!

It’s never too late to start finding your niche and meet many new lifelong friends as your child makes their journey through band.  Regardless of whether you are able to volunteer an hour a week or hours a day, it is the combined parent volunteer contributions that make a successful band program.

Here is what you can do this summer to find ways to support and participate in your child’s band experience.

1.       Join the Lafayette Band Association. All volunteers must be members of the LBA.

2.       Verify that you are an approved volunteer with the Fayette County School System. Click on this link

3.       Volunteer at BINGO as many Tuesdays and Thursdays as you can spare this summer while your schedule is not so hectic. This is the best way to meet and get to know other band parents while also supporting the band in one of its most profitable fundraisers.

4.       Watch the e-News this summer for crew profiles to learn more about each crew.

5.       Watch for a crew recruiting meeting this summer. This will give you an opportunity to meet and speak with all the crew leaders to determine which crew fits you best.

In the meantime, if you have a burning crew question, feel free to reach out to the following crew leaders for answers to your specific questions.

Chaperones: Mike Booth (mikeboothgm@gmail.com)
Field Crew: Matt King (matt@bleedsblue.com)
Uniform Crew: Amy King (amy@bleedsblue.com)
Food Crew: Jane and Jim DeRossett (fullpantry@hotmail.com)
Band Store: Stacey Haymes (haymes@twc.com)
Media Crew: Michelle Dunlap (micklepickle58@gmail.com) or Dwayne Imes (dwimes@icloud.com)
