Mothers (and fathers!) of the Band (MOB) – Notes of Encouragement

This optional activity and long standing tradition was started many years ago by a band mom to show the Band and staff our love and support during this busiest time of the competition season.  This activity is not sanctioned by LBA.  Anyone may choose to participate and write notes of encouragement for a specific section (e.g., trombones, color guard, etc.) to be distributed to students on the bus as they travel to KMEA competition on October 31.  The maximum number of notes assigned will be 9.

Review the sections below and email your choice to Brenda Boggs at bsbboggs@yahoo.com” >bsbboggs@yahoo.com.  Karina or Brenda will then send you a list of students and a sample note.

Notes must be returned no later than Friday, October 23.  Watch e-news for collection dates/times.  Notes can be returned to Karina Lancaster or Brenda Boggs.

Tips for Note Preparation:

§  Short, hand-written, anonymous note of support and encouragement!  Notes are not intended to suggest or emphasize winning.

§  Decorate paper with stickers, use scrapbook paper with music symbols, or whatever you choose.

§  Add your special touch!

Sections:  Baritones, Clarinets, Color Guard, Drum Majors, Flutes, Mellophones, Percussion, Saxophones, Sousaphones, Staff, Trombones, and Trumpets

Xooker Fundraising Opportunity

Thank you to everyone that signed-up to participate in the Xooker Fundraising Opportunity.  You should have received an email message last week with instructions on how to begin beta testing.  Please complete the easy survey by noon on Wednesday, September 30th.  The band will receive a $25 donation for each completed survey.  There will be a new fundraising opportunity next week so watch the e-News for information.

Meals for Mini Camp

Food crew will need lots of volunteers for Mini Camp this week. We will be serving hamburgers for dinner on Wednesday evening, Canes for lunch Thursday and Moe’s for lunch on Friday.  Please let Stacey know at stacey1016@yahoo.com” >stone1016@yahoo.com if you can help serve.

We will also need cookies for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Drop cookies off to Stacey in parking lot as you deliver your student to band camp.

If your student will not eat the meals being provided, please send a packed lunch. This will be an exhausting time for students and no one can afford to go without a meal.
