Shannon Clark
Color Guard Instructor

Shannon Clark is a graduate of Lafayette High School. She performed with the Lafayette drum line her freshman and sophomore years, and with the Lafayette color guard her junior and senior years. Shannon has also performed with the Bluecoats Drum and Bugle corps, the Crossmen Drum and Bugle corps, the Phantom Regiment Drum and Bugle corps, Chimeras Winterguard, and the Pride of Cincinnati Winterguard. Shannon has taught several high school color guards in the Kentucky area as well as the Pioneer Drum and Bugle Corps, Southwind Drum and Bugle corps, and Carolina Crown Drum and Bugle Corps. Shannon has a degree in elementary education and special education from the University of Kentucky and currently serves as a special education teacher with Fayette County Public Schools.

Julie Strange

Julie Strange
Originally from Indianapolis, IN, Julie Strange received her Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Kentucky. While working toward her degree, Julie worked on the color guard staff with the Lafayette Band program from 1999-2002, helping the band earn four KMEA State Marching Band Championships. Julie returned to Indianapolis in 2003 teaching elementary music and working on staff with the Lawrence Central High School Marching Band. As a member of the Lawrence Central staff, Julie worked with the color guard and band as choreographer and dance instructor. Julie worked with the LC team to earn several Bands of America Regional Championships as well as the title of Bands of America Grand National Champion in 2004.

Julie has returned to Lexington with her husband and is now teaching elementary music at Northern Elementary School in Fayette County, where she looks forward to working with the Lafayette Band program again.

 

Dana Arnold, Color Guard Instructor

Dana Arnold is presently the Director of Community Engagement for the Fayette County Bar Association where she oversees the Lawyer Referral Service, Pro Bono Program and Bar Foundation. She has been a color guard instructor since 1995 in the Central Kentucky area managing both fall and winter programs.  Dana has been a guard instructor at Lafayette High School in Lexington since 2005 and is also an Assistant Director of the Lexis Winter Guard since its inception in 2011.  She has been a guest technician at notable programs around the state. Dana has been a member of the TriState Circuit Judges Association since 2010 and judges in the areas of Individual Analysis Movement and Equipment.  She also adjudicates in the region in the areas of color guard and visual performance. Dana is married to Rob Arnold, who also instructs/designs/judges for bands and guards in Kentucky in addition to being on staff at Lafayette.  They have two children, Hayden and Hudson.
