Uniform:  Remember to bring your red bag on Wednesday, December 7th and pack it with your band shorts, a t-shirt (a red one actually works better), long BLACK socks, and your BLACK concert shoes. If you ordered concert shoes, you may pick those up on Wednesday afternoon before the concert.

If you have not been fitted for a concert uniform, Mama Waffles will be in the band room at dismissal on Wednesday.

Band Store

The band store will be open during the Area Band Concert on Wednesday, December 7.  There will be a table set up in the gym foyer from 6:30pm until after the concert is over, around 9:00pm.  We will have Christmas ornaments, water bottles, patches, pins, buttons, baseball caps, cold weather gear, and apparel for sale.  Please stop by and check us out.  Ornaments and water bottles make great stocking stuffers and we have some nice embroidered quarter zips and apparel available for gifts!  The final custom order is in and if you placed an order, you may stop by the table to pick it up.

Tax-Deductible End-of-Year Donations

Link to donate

Dear Lafayette Band Family,

The gift giving season has arrived and the Lafayette Band Association invites you to consider a tax deductible, end-of-year donation to the Lafayette High School “Pride of the Bluegrass” Band Program.

Since 1990, the “Pride of the Bluegrass” has won the Kentucky Music Educators Association State Championship an incredible 18 times and earned the title of Grand Champion in more than 60 state, regional, and national competitions.  Lafayette has performed and competed on a national level in events such as the prestigious MidWest Clinic, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Tournament of Roses Parade, and Bands of American Competitions.  The ability to perform and remain competitive at this level requires human resources and funds to pay for travel, uniforms, food, instruments, scholarships, props, consultants, and more.

Unfortunately, fundraising efforts and band payments have been unable to meet the financial needs of the program.  As a member of the Lafayette Band Association, you can attend monthly meetings to review the budget and learn about program activities and related income and expenses.  Please consider making a donation to LBA to ensure our students continue to have the opportunity to perform at school events, community concerts, and parades, compete in state, regional, and national band competitions, and experience life-changing events.

Donations can be made here.  You may also mail a donation to this address:
Lafayette Band Association
PO Box 910450
Lexington, KY 40591

Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  We sincerely appreciate your consideration and support.

Happy Holidays,
Charles Smith
Director of Bands

Family Payment Agreements

PLEASE NOTE: Family payments form the basis of the annual budget.  Our instructors and staff rely on us for their earned pay.  However, we are unable to provide payment to these individuals due to many families who have not completed the agreement.

Family payments for 2016-2017 are $1,100 and were due in August – or an additional late payment of $150 for the “deferred payment schedule” was added per the payment agreement. All payments should have been completed by November 15, 2016.

For those who have not paid, or are behind in their payments, please be responsible – others are relying on you.  If you have questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Smith at chuck.smith@fayette.kyschools.us or 859-396-3311 for a confidential payment arrangement.

Charms Database

The Lafayette Band uses Charms, a web-based organizational software system to track student contact information, financial statements, email communication, and more.

To log into Charms, go to www.charmsoffice.com.  Click “Enter” on the top menu and click “Parents/Students/Members” on the dropdown list.  Login using the school code “lhsband” and enter your student ID/password.  If you need your student ID, please contact Liz Booth at lafayettebandaccounts@gmail.com. The student ID is assigned by Charms and is a combination of letters and numbers.

If your student has an outstanding balance, you will receive a monthly financial statement.  The monthly payments will be billed individually in the Fixed Payment ledger.  Amounts received that are less than the billed fixed payment amount will be temporarily stored in the Miscellaneous ledger.  When the amount in the Miscellaneous ledger is sufficient to pay a monthly payments, we can transfer the amount to the appropriate fixed payment.

Band payments may be paid by cash, check, credit card or money order.  Checks and money orders should be made payable to “LBA” (please note the student’s name) and mail to:

Lafayette Band Association
PO Box 910396
Lexington, KY 40591-0396
