2016-2017 Materials to be Mailed This Week

All families will receive a set of materials in the mail this week for the 2016-2017 band year.  The materials include:

  • 2016-2017 Payment Agreement (orange paper) – to be returned by March 15, 2016
  • LBA Membership Registration Form (red paper) – required to volunteer with LBA
  • LBA Parent Volunteer Form (blue paper)
  • Medical Authorization Form (pink paper) – Mandatory for students to participate in Band
  • Over-the-Counter Medication Authorization Form (cream paper) – Must be signed by a physician and parent in order for student to receive OTC medications.

Please complete and return these materials to the address provided on each form.  Or watch the e-News for collection dates during the spring mini camps.

The forms are also available on the Lafayette Band website at www.lafayetteband.org

Family Payments Matter for Every Student

As we begin planning for the 2016-17 band year, all LBA families must understand that the family payments form the backbone of all band activities and our budget.  Fundraising and Bingo are important but they cannot replace the funds provided by the family payments.

It is important that every family be responsible and meet financial obligations.  The lack of family payments has resulted in difficult situations for our musical instructors – we are not able to make timely payments and several have left to find employment elsewhere.  This has a negative impact on the musical instruction provided by Lafayette and our students’ growth as musicians.

The unpaid expenses from this year will carry-forward into the budget for the 2016-17 year.  Family Payments matter!  For our students to have the best possible band and musical experience at Lafayette, families must meet their basic financial obligation.  If needed, please contact Mr. Smith at 859-396-3311 or chuck.smith@fayette.kyschools.us for a confidential conversation about a payment arrangement – he is more than willing to work with you and your circumstances.

Let’s finish this year strong – both musically and financially!

Discount Card Volunteers Needed

The Lafayette Band Discount Card is the band’s most profitable and easy to sell fundraiser.  We need a few parent volunteers to help contact current and new discount card businesses for the 2016-17 card.

If you are available from 2-4pm at least one day a week to contact businesses or would like more information, please contact Mike Booth (mikeboothgm@gmail.com) or Kay Warner (warner272@gmail.com).

Wish List – Items to Donate

Here are some items needed for the band room: Pencils, Tissues, Paper Towels, and Clorox Wipes.  Donations are appreciated – Thank you!
