Looking for Band Camp, Contest or Concert Photographs?

Photo Gallery

The Lafayette Band website has a Photo Gallery and it can be accessed from the website home page!  The photos are categorized by event and year (e.g., 2016-2017: Day 7 Band Camp).  Many thanks to Michelle Dunlap for her hard work and dedication in taking the photos, organizing the photo gallery and uploading thousands of photos!

Jazz Band Dance and Silent Auction

The Lafayette Jazz Band Dance and Silent Auction, “Vox Populi,” is on February 17, 2017 at Wellington Elementary.  This is a fun event for students and families to dress-up and dance to the music of the two Jazz Bands.

Donations for Silent Auction items are now being accepted.  All families will be asked to bring food items for all to share – watch for an email from a parent volunteer for specific food items for each section.  For example, members of the Jazz bands are asked to bring a 2-liter soda/juice or water bottles.

Contact Carole Howell for more information.

Tax-Deductible Donations

Link to donate

Dear Lafayette Band Family,

The Lafayette Band Association invites you to consider a tax-deductible donation to the Lafayette High School “Pride of the Bluegrass” Band Program.

Since 1990, the “Pride of the Bluegrass” has won the Kentucky Music Educators Association State Championship an incredible 18 times and earned the title of Grand Champion in more than 60 state, regional, and national competitions.  Lafayette has performed and competed on a national level in events such as the prestigious MidWest Clinic, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Tournament of Roses Parade, and Bands of American Competitions.  The ability to perform and remain competitive at this level requires human resources and funds to pay for travel, uniforms, food, instruments, scholarships, props, consultants, and more.

Unfortunately, fundraising efforts and band payments have been unable to meet the financial needs of the program.  As a member of the Lafayette Band Association, you can attend monthly meetings to review the budget and learn about program activities and related income and expenses.  Please consider making a donation to LBA to ensure our students continue to have the opportunity to perform at school events, community concerts, and parades, compete in state, regional, and national band competitions, and experience life-changing events.

Donations can be made here.  You may also mail a donation to this address:

Many thanks for the generous donations provided by several families this holiday season. We are truly grateful.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.

Family Payment Agreements

PLEASE NOTE: Family payments form the basis of the annual budget.  Our instructors and staff rely on us for their earned pay.  However, we are unable to provide payment to these individuals due to many families who have not completed the agreement.

Family payments for 2016-2017 are $1,100 and were due in August – or an additional late payment of $150 for the “deferred payment schedule” was added per the payment agreement. All payments should have been completed by November 15, 2016.

For those who have not paid, or are behind in their payments, please be responsible – others are relying on you.  If you have questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Smith at chuck.smith@fayette.kyschools.us or 859-396-3311 for a confidential payment arrangement.

Charms Database

The Lafayette Band uses Charms, a web-based organizational software system to track student contact information, financial statements, email communication, and more.

To log into Charms, go to www.charmsoffice.com.  Click “Enter” on the top menu and click “Parents/Students/Members” on the dropdown list.  Login using the school code “lhsband” and enter your student ID/password.  If you need your student ID, please contact Liz Booth at lafayettebandaccounts@gmail.com. The student ID is assigned by Charms and is a combination of letters and numbers.

If your student has an outstanding balance, you will receive a monthly financial statement.  The monthly payments will be billed individually in the Fixed Payment ledger.  Amounts received that are less than the billed fixed payment amount will be temporarily stored in the Miscellaneous ledger.  When the amount in the Miscellaneous ledger is sufficient to pay a monthly payments, we can transfer the amount to the appropriate fixed payment.

Band payments may be paid by cash, check, credit card or money order.  Checks and money orders should be made payable to “LBA” (please note the student’s name) and mail to:
