Lafayette High School Graduation |
Report Time: 11:15am – Ceremony Begins at 1:00pm We will meet at 11:15am at the lower level back entrance to Rupp Arena. Do not be late!!! You can access this by parking in the Jefferson Street parking lot (which will cost you money) or you can be dropped off on High Street, just at the end of Rupp Arena, and take the steps down to the lower level back entrance. We will rehearse briefly from 11:45–12:30 pm. We will begin performing at 1pm and play until after the seniors’ processional. We will stay for the entire graduation, which lasts approximately one hour and 30 minutes, and then provide the recessional for seniors and guests. Have your rides pre-arranged for pick-up at Rupp Arena close to 2:30pm. This year, all non-graduating students who are in both the choir & band will perform with the band. Students are expected to wear their blue short-sleeve polo band shirt and an appropriate pair of khaki pants (black, tan, brown). No shorts or jeans!!! Percussionists and tubas need to be aware of information that will be given later in the week concerning truck loading and unloading. If anyone has any questions, please call me at 381-3484 or 396-3311. Remember, this is a performance and unexcused non-participation will result in a revised grade! Schedule for Friday, May 27 11:15am Meet at lower level back entrance to Rupp Arena |
Uniform Crew Update |
Mama Waffles (aka Amy King) will be in the band room from dismissal until 6pm on Wednesday the 25th for anyone that needs a band polo shirt. Polo shirts must be worn at the graduation performance. Only freshmen or upperclassmen who joined the band this year should need a polo shirt. If any student needs a replacement shirt, they should bring $25 for the shirt. Also, if any student would like to exchange their polo shirt for a different size, they should bring their current, clean polo on Wednesday. Any questions? Email them to Amy@bleedsblue.com |
Volunteer Carpool to Rupp Arena for Graduation |
Bus transportation is not provided to Rupp Arena on Friday for Graduation. Therefore, a voluntary car pool is being organized to assist families that are unable to transport their student to Rupp Arena. Please contact Karen Horne at 859-230-8788 or khgnextlevel@gmail.com if you are available to transport students. Please include your name and the number of students you can accommodate. If your student needs transportation, please contact Karen and provide the student’s name and telephone number. Karen will connect available drivers and students. Please respond to Karen no later than 6:00pm on Wednesday, May 25 with this information |

The order form is available online and you can view color photographs of the designs, apparel, and fabric choices. The possibilities are endless – choose a design, fabric, clothing item, monogram, etc. You can be creative with the designs or simply choose to monogram an item. Summer Programs |
Summer Music Academy (private lesson program) begins on June 13th. Asbury Leadership Training is on Tuesday, June 7th All forms for these events are available on the website at www.Lafayetteband.org |
Student Annual Physical and KHSAA Form |
Make an appointment now with your child’s physician to get a yearly physical. Have the physician complete and sign the KHSAA Physical Form and send it with your student on the first day of band camp. It is a good idea to take a blank KSHAA Form with you since not all physicians keep blank forms on file. If your student had a physical last year after July just make arrangements for a new physical as soon as possible at the one year date. |
Parents – Join one of the Band Crews for the 2016-17 year! |
It’s never too late to start finding your niche and meet many new lifelong friends as your child makes their journey through band. Regardless of whether you are able to volunteer an hour a week or hours a day, it is the combined parent volunteer contributions that make a successful band program. Here is what you can do this summer to find ways to support and participate in your child’s band experience. 1. Join the Lafayette Band Association. All volunteers must be members of the LBA. 2. Verify that you are an approved volunteer with the Fayette County School System. Click on this link. 3. Volunteer at BINGO as many Tuesdays and Thursdays as you can spare this summer while your schedule is not so hectic. This is the best way to meet and get to know other band parents while also supporting the band in one of its most profitable fundraisers. 4. Watch the e-News this summer for crew profiles to learn more about each crew. 5. Watch for a crew recruiting meeting this summer. This will give you an opportunity to meet and speak with all the crew leaders to determine which crew fits you best. In the meantime, if you have a burning crew question, feel free to reach out to the following crew leaders for answers to your specific questions. Chaperones: Mike Booth (mikeboothgm@gmail.com) |
