Tax-Deductible Family Donations

Link to Donate

Dear Lafayette Band Family,

The gift giving season has arrived and the Lafayette Band Association would like you to consider a tax deductible, end-of-year donation to the Lafayette High School “Pride of the Bluegrass” Band Program.

Since 1990, the “Pride of the Bluegrass” has won the Kentucky Music Educators Association State Championship an incredible 18 times and earned the title of Grand Champion in more than 60 state, regional, and national competitions.  Lafayette has performed and competed on a national level in events such as the prestigious MidWest Clinic, Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade, Tournament of Roses Parade, and Bands of American Competitions.  The ability to perform and remain competitive at this level requires human resources and funds to pay for travel, uniforms, food, instruments, scholarships, props, consultants, and more.

Unfortunately, fundraising efforts and band payments have been unable to meet the financial needs of the program.  As a member of the Lafayette Band Association, you can attend monthly meetings to review the budget and learn about program activities and related income and expenses.  Please consider making a donation to LBA to ensure our students continue to have the opportunity to perform at school events, community concerts, and parades, compete in state, regional, and national band competitions, and experience life-changing events.

Donations can be made here.  Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.  We sincerely appreciate your consideration and support.

Happy Holidays,
Charles Smith
Director of Bands

The Lafayette Band Association is a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation and is tax- exempt under this section of the Internal Revenue Code. The Federal Tax ID is #61-1163112.

Band Party on Friday, December 2

We are having an end-of-season celebration for the band on December 2 from 7:00pm – 10:00pm at the Bingo Hall.  We will have a DJ and dancing!

Please join us for music, food and fun!  Watch the e-News for details.

Fruit and Wreath Fundraiser

The last date to return Fruit and Wreath orders is Tuesday, November 29 and there is a collection box in the band room.  In addition, Carole Howell will be at school on Monday and Tuesday to collect orders.

Orders can be placed in the following ways:

·         With a band member

·         By telephone (859-559-0333)

·         Online at www.shop.lafayetteband.org  If shopping online, add the student name in the comment box during check-out and the student will receive credit for the sale.

·         A tax deductible “In lieu of” payment of $50 can be made to ensure LBA maintains budgetary responsibilities and commitments.

Roby’s Garden will be delivering our fruit orders on Friday, December 9th after school. Volunteers are needed to unload the truck and sort the boxes and some light lifting will be involved. Please let Crystal Taylor or Carole Howell know if you are available for 1-2 hours that Friday afternoon. Orders are to be picked up on Saturday morning starting at 8:00am.  Please let Carole or Crystal know in advance if you are not able to pick up your order on time.

Pick-up and deliveries will be on December 10.

Contact Crystal Taylor or Carole Howell (859-420-7845) with questions.

Family Payment Agreements

PLEASE NOTE: Family payments form the basis of the annual budget and our instructors and staff rely on us for their earned pay.  However, we are unable to provide payment because many families have not completed the agreement.

Family payments for 2016-2017 are $1,100 and were due in August – or an additional late payment of $150 for the “deferred payment schedule” was added per the payment agreement. All payments should have been completed by November 15, 2016.

For those who have not paid, or are behind in their payments, please be responsible – others are relying on you.  If you have questions or concerns, please contact Mr. Smith at chuck.smith@fayette.kyschools.us or 859-396-3311 for a confidential payment arrangement.
